Systematizing your business processes with software allows for repeatable best practices
that will increase your profits.
Early this year DeckerWright Corporation implemented JETS, its new automated Job and Equipment Tracking System. JETS is an online system built using Microsoft .NET technologies to create a standardized framework for DeckerWright (DWC) to post customer service requests and track service jobs to completion. By turning DWC’s best practices into software rules that are applied to every transaction, DWC has seen a significant improvement in its profitability.
JETS has enabled DWC to implement key process changes that have both reduced expenses and increased revenue.
Implementing JETS and combining it with new Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phone service has allowed DWC to eliminate one clerical position, saving the company over $1,000 per month.
Virtually 100% of all service requests received are promptly handled and immediately billed out, resulting in higher service billings for DWC.
Cross checks in JETS have reduced inventory shrinkage by reducing the possibility of service personnel forgetting to post the parts used in completing jobs.
Automated e-mails at key milestones enable management to easily track jobs to completion and to immediately intervene to resolve resource issues.
JETS eliminates the use of billable time spent completing paperwork in the office because it offers our techs the ability to complete service documentation on-site.
Cash flow has improved because the time from completing a job to sending out an invoice has shrunk from an average of 10 days to 3 days, effectively adding one week of revenues to cash flow.
DWC customers with Network Support Agreements have the ability to access JETS in order to monitor the progress of a job, or to check on their service history. Additional resources made available to customers on JETS include web links to technical web sites, technical support phone numbers, and contact information for the DWC staff. Future enhancements for customers will include the ability to identify trends and problem areas by analyzing their service history.
The technology employed in JETS is based on Microsoft .NET, and it uses a combination of ASP.NET, Java scripts, and Microsoft SQL Server for secure access anywhere on the internet. Interfaces are planned to DWC’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and accounting software. Eventually all of DWC’s follow-up and invoicing rules will be turned into software so that business process is applied uniformly to every business transaction.
